Although WAVT-FM has been on the air since 1948, (as WPPA-FM) this station’s real existence began in 1980 when, after decades of simulcasting with our AM radio station WPPA, Pottsville Broadcasting Co. began operating WAVT-FM as a separate broadcasting facility. By 1987, WAVT, T102, was the most listened to radio station in Schuylkill County, and has been ever since.
